Welcome! My name is Sharon Schneible and I am a professional organizer in Upstate NY and the founder and owner of Organized by Sharon.
Growing up with a type A personality in a large family was difficult to say the least. I would try to create perfect places that I could escape to, like, classrooms in an old barn or playhouses in forts that we would build. I can recall spending my sixth grade year attempting to organize my teacher’s classroom any chance that I could get. Whenever my family would plan anything or have a crisis, it was me they turned to.
After having two children, now 24 and 22, and trying to be everything for everyone, I realized that I just couldn’t do it anymore! My expectations were too high and unlike Martha Stewart, I did not have an entire team of people helping me. It was just me trying to do it all perfectly in an imperfect world. I have learned that we are only able to do what we can with what we have; that sometimes we need to let fantasy of perfection go and reach out to others for help.
It’s not about Perfection, It’s about Function.
Being a professional organizer in the Saratoga NY area, I find that I am surrounded by this stigma that I am perfect in everything I do. People imagine me living in a perfect space, where everything is neatly organized and in its place, and that I’m never late or make a mistake.
Well, I’m going to be brutally honest — I do not live in a perfect world! I do, however, dream of a world like that. In fact, I often say that my “Heaven on Earth” would be living in one of Martha Stewart’s homes. I, just like so many, often struggle with organizational issues such as clutter, procrastination, and time management. With my organizational skills, determination and a realization of what I am realistically able to do, I live my life the best way I know how.
